Progress Report: 7.9.2021
Grasshopper Family,
Gratitude is the word that comes to mind as I compose this update.
There is a monumental shift in operations happening right now. The team has been crushing incredibly intense work related to building and setting up the property since last October.
Hard work. Very hard work. And the farm looks amazing.
We got our tractor today! The previous one was a rental until the new one was ready, and the team is already rocking it.
The roof of the pump house was completed and it looks great!
The exterior of Building 2 is done!
The team started to set the t-posts that will hold the trellis netting to support the plants as they start to get bigger.
Take note of some of the irrigation components that provide an efficient means of delivering water and nutrients to each individual plant.
We are proceeding with more than 4,500 plants outside! After all 4,500 plants were in their pots we made the decision to increase the count to 4,651. As of now, the number of plants in pots is 4,567 because the remaining pots are on order. Yes, you read that right: we have 4...5...6...7 plants currently in pots. We did not plan it that way! That happened for us. Just like getting licensed on 4/20.
Life continues to happen for us.
The work is starting to shift from physical intensity to a mental intensity and focus as we inspect and care for each plant.
And it feels absolutely amazing.
You'll see just how amazing as you look at the shots of the field...acres and acres of plants.
I started this update with a feeling of gratitude. Gratitude for our team. Gratitude for our farm. Gratitude for our plants. Gratitude for this opportunity.
The path to join this team isn't easy. Most have not been able to hack the work. But those who have...they are now part of an incredible family and amazing farm.
Each person who has joined the Grasshopper Farms team has a unique story. Each has dreams. Each has aspirations. Each has been working hard. Really hard. I very much appreciate and care for each of them, and we are going to help each person realize their dreams.
We are an organization of people taking care of people.
We are Grasshopper Farms.
