Taking a giant leap toward the Garden State!

That's right, Grasshopper Farms is entering the great state of New Jersey! Currently operating from our 160-acre farm in Michigan, we're underway with plans to open the brand's first East Coast operation in 2023.

We recently secured conditional approval from state regulators for Grasshopper Farms NJ LLC to operate in two categories: cultivation and manufacturing. A limited number of initial licenses were granted and we are grateful.

We still have a lot to do. Up next are additional approvals, final selection of a site (stay tuned for our announcement of a location) and the critical tasks of setting up a new business, including assembling a local team.

We organized Grasshopper Farms as a decentralized multi-state operation (MSO), meaning each team, its leadership, and its decisions are made locally. No matter where expansion takes us, this type of employee engagement and empowerment will keep the team excited as they design, build, and execute everything locally. We are truly an organization of people helping people.

What makes New Jersey a good choice?

There is a possibility that Grasshopper Farms could become New Jersey's first and largest outdoor cannabis farm. For us, that would be exciting.

However, the announcement is also big news for the broader cannabis industry in New Jersey. With the addition of a large and experienced outdoor grower, New Jersey is once again demonstrating its role as a leader in this emerging industry. With Grasshopper Farms setting up shop in the state, it's likely that other businesses will follow suit.

New Jersey's population and favorable laws make it an attractive location for cannabis companies looking to expand. First, a large and growing number of people in the state are cannabis enthusiasts. Secondly, the state has implemented a comprehensive regulatory framework. Businesses like Grasshopper Farms benefit from this clarity and certainty, and as we have experienced with Michigan's regulators, everyone can rest assured that our products will always exceed regulatory requirements.

New Jersey's market is poised for growth, and the entire team at Grasshopper Farms is excited to play a role in helping to shape the local cannabis industry.

Once we have two outdoor farms -- one in Michigan and one in New Jersey -- each following the same quality standards and best practices, there's a good chance Grasshopper Farms could hop onto the list of Top 10 producers in the U.S. We can't wait to see what the future holds!
